"Go home, old man!" Ageism in the covid-19 pandemic: netnography on the Youtube™ platform

Abstract Objective To analyze the repercussions of ageism directed at older people during covid-19, through content available on Youtube™ platform. Method Netnographic, exploratory and qualitative study, whose data were collected in videos platform; a thematic analysis Bardin's was performed elements discussed light Theory Stigma. Results Three categories explain investigated phenomenon: expressions pre-existing to pandemic, with exclusion, disregard disrespect; pandemic from risk group label that strengthens stereotypes sick incapable people; feelings attitudes towards ageism, which led social interactions, lifestyle health people. Conclusions The can cause physical, cognitive, psychic sequelae, fight against its impacts starts educational sphere pact allows respectful empathetic coexistence between generations.
